Q: Do you have to be flexible to practice yoga?

A: Yoga is not about how flexible you are. You only have to be flexible in the mind and have a good attitude. As you develop a regular practice, your body will open up and you will become more flexible. Some people are more flexible than others. We encourage the flexible people to work on building strength and stretching the tight areas of their bodies. We suggest taking it slowly and being mindful. Through a regular practice, the body will naturally open up.

Q: How often should I practice to get benefits or see results?

A: We recommend to practice at least 3 times a week to notice results. Every time you practice, your body and mind is getting benefits.

Q: What are the benefits of a regular yoga practice?

A: The health benefits are amazing! Not only will the body strengthen and tone and become more flexible, but yoga also relieves stress and anxiety, settles the mind, promotes a healthy life style, increases energy and circulation, mental clarity and concentration and heightens awareness. A regular yoga practice is always changing and we encourage people to go with the flow and feel good inside and out. Yoga is a beautiful experience and has changed our lives…for the better of course;)

Q: Can I lose weight?

A: It depends on the type of yoga you practice and how often you practice. If you are only practicing yoga as your form of exercise, we recommend a more dynamic style of yoga such as Vinyasa.

Q: Why should I practice yoga instead of other types of exercise?

A: We never tell people to stop other types of exercise. If you like to run, surf, etc. do that, but in addition to that, compliment your routine, by practicing yoga. Yoga is the perfect cross training for any activity. Practicing yoga will open up the areas that get tight and contracted and can also help you to focus on your breath.

Q: How should I prepare for my first yoga class?

A: Make sure you get plenty of sleep and are well hydrated with water. Try not to eat a heavy meal 2 hours before class. Wear comfortable clothing and come at least 15 minutes early to register. Bring a mat and towel if you have one. If not, you can rent one at the studio. Have an open mind, relax and leave your expectations at the door. Smile and have fun!

Q: Why the heat?

A: The room is heated to 30 degrees to warm your muscles, which allows you to work deeper in a shorter amount of time. You are massaging deep tissues, glands and organs as well. As you work deeply within your body, you may start to release ‘poisons’ or ‘toxins’ that have been stored there for a long time. With your skin being the largest elimination organ in your body, sweating cleanses it by flushing out toxins, giving you a wonderful glow from head to toe.
